Building colour in the studio — inspired by my morning drawings.

Colour has always been at the heart of my work.

Oil painting has given me a new way to explore it — building depth, richness and luminosity gradually, layer by layer.

My paintings grow out of my daily drawings. I take the shapes and colours I have observed in the morning and develop them in the studio, allowing the work to become more expressive as it evolves.

The paintings shown here are works in progress, exploring the colours, shapes and atmosphere of the British seasons.
