London in blossom is magical.
Moments of Spring, captured in bloom
The starting image for this post says it all — me in Kew, jumping for joy and throwing the fallen blossom into the air. It perfectly captures how this season feels. There’s something so special about blossom at Kew — not just the beauty, but the atmosphere. The gentle sounds, the avenues of blossom paired with different pieces of music, and even a live string quartet playing… it’s an experience I look forward to every year.
Being a member means I can return again and again, watching the seasons slowly unfold. And across London, we’re so lucky to have such incredible blossom everywhere. I’ve been making the most of it while it lasts — fitting in daily walks and runs to visit my favourite spots and discover new ones.
So far, highlights include Kew, Swiss Cottage, Battersea Park, the Outer Circle in Regent’s Park, and a hidden square in Aldgate near the Lloyd’s Building. Each place has its own character, but they all share that fleeting beauty — soft pinks and whites set against blue or cloud-filled skies. It never fails to lift my mood.
Blossom doesn’t stay long. Before you know it, the petals fall and fresh green leaves take over. That’s part of what makes it so special — it’s a reminder to pause, notice, and enjoy it while it’s here.
This weekend had an extra treat — visiting Queen Charlotte’s Cottage. The interiors, with their beautiful pink and green tones and delicate hand-painted walls, felt like stepping into a dream. It reminded me how much I love that colour combination — fresh, uplifting, and so full of spring.
And as many of you know… in another life, I’d come back as a thatcher! There’s something so appealing about the craft — the texture, the natural materials, the way thatch brings warmth and character to a building. Not to mention how well it insulates and how much wildlife it supports. It looks like such a satisfying, timeless skill.
A season that asks nothing of us but to pause, look up, and breathe it in. For now, though, I’ll keep chasing blossom 🌸
